General Information

Amsterdam

Welcome to Amsterdam – town with fan-shaped canals, city where Spinoza and Descartes once lived, place of free thinkers and merchants, town with metropolitan features, attractive destination for young people. Its rich and poignant history can be admired during a boat ride in its 17th century circular canals (Unesco World Heritage), at the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, the van Gogh Museum and, conveniently around the corner, the Stedelijk Museum. Be cool and visit ‚Noord‘ with its movie museum (‘eye‘), grand cafés and revolving building. Concertgebouw or Opera: plan in advance. On the spot: many stages or theaters in town. Drink beer, eat French fries with mayonnaise or, if you insist, go inside a ‘coffee shop’. Amsterdam will impress you with its modernity among history and its notorious tradition of not being traditional. Long ago, the government deemed it safer to rule from The Hague. But like everybody likes to be in Amsterdam, even the Monarch has its own residence in town. Now it is your turn.

Airport and arrival information

Amsterdam has one airport: Schiphol with international flights from major cities all over the world. Amsterdam is easily accessible from all points on the globe. Congress participants arrive at Schiphol, acknowledged as one of the world’s best airports. From there the train ride to the city center takes less than 15 minutes.

Transport between airport and city / city and Amsterdam RAI

The airport is linked to public transportation, trains run directly to Amsterdam Central and Amsterdam RAI, where the Convention Center is located. The Amsterdam RAI Convention Center can also be reached easily by taxi.
